Auto-Tune’s Mutator is a sophisticated yet incredibly straightforward voice changer plug-in that'll take your production skills to the next level. You can re-pitch vocals in real-time and change tone using cutting-edge throat modeling technology. The Alienize function and ring modulator-based mutation will further expand your sonic palette, unlocking a whole new universe of supernatural vocal effects for you to explore.
A voice changer plug-in is an effect that lets you alter your vocals by adding special effects or shifting to a higher or lower pitch. Depending on the versatility of the plug-in, you can transform pre-recorded voices but also apply changes in real-time during live performances. Special vocal effects are commonly used in music but also in the gaming and movie industries. They're used to create otherworldly voices and vocal synth effects that add variety and uniqueness to audio productions.
In the Voice Design section of Mutator, you can modulate the Shift Pitch, Throat Length, and Width of your voice. You can use these three control knobs to add a layer of robotic, synth-like vocals to a track. The Mutate section is a ring modulator with pitch tracking, meaning the effect will adjust according to the pitch of the vocals you're applying the effect to. If you set the value of Mutation to an odd number, you'll get an inharmonic effect, whereas even numbers provide a more melodic and pleasant feel to the sound. The Alienize section plays small chunks of the audio track in reverse and in real-time. You can choose the length of the speech segment that plays backward using the control knob and create an otherworldly vocal layer to accompany the leading voice.
